Keen to relax and enjoy some time off after a busy start to 2020, Easter is undoubtedly going to be the next most popular time to travel for a lot of people.

Interested in holiday expenditure, TheMoneyPig.com identified 14 different nationalities from around the world to work out how much on average they will spend on flights per person to travel this Easter based on their top five most likely holiday destinations.

MoneyPig found that Americans will spend the most on flights by travelling over Easter this year – at an astonishing average of €780.00.

Thereafter, Australian’s are expected to splash an average of €684.00 on flights to go to their desired Easter vacation destination.

In third place, the Chinese are set to fork out an average of €634.00 on airplane tickets during the Easter holidays.

On the other end, the Irish will spend the least on flights this Easter – at a mere average of €99.00.

Slightly above, the British can anticipate splashing an average of just €105.00 on plane tickets for an Easter adventure in April.

Top Five Travel Destinations for Each Nationality

Methodology

  1. The top five travel destinations for 14 different nationalities were identified using a report from British property specialists Knight Frank.
  2. Using Skyscanner, we found out how much it would cost each nationality to fly from their home capital city to each capital city in their top five travel destinations between Monday 6th April – Sunday 12th April 2020 (which is the next most popular time for travel – Easter 2020).
  3. For each travel destination we only sought to use the cheapest direct flight return option – where there was no direct flights available – the cheapest connecting flights return alternative was used.
  4. Once the flight prices for each of the five travel destinations were identified for a given nationality – the results for all five were added together and divided by five to arrive at an average flight price per person figure.
  5. We then used Web Flyer mileage calculator to calculate the air miles between the home capital city to the travelling capital city and back for each of the five travel destinations for a given nationality – the results for all five were then added together and divided by five to arrive at an average air miles per person figure.
