Yesterday, the Council of Ministers approved a partial opening of Madagascar’s borders from Europe to Antananarivo and to Nosy Be islands.
Long flights between Europe and Antananarivo will resume on 6 November 2021.
Passengers from Europe will be able to reach Madagascar with Air France and Air Madagascar flights from 6 November. From this same date, Nosy Be will also welcome international passengers, but only via charter flights.
Flights between Madagascar and the neighbouring islands (Mauritius, Reunion) of the Indian Ocean will resume on October 23, 2021.
For the moment, other airline companies, such as Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airlines or Kenya Airways, are not mentioned in the communiqué. According to the Council of Ministers, the reopening of the borders should be done gradually. We strongly hope that ET and TK flights will also be able to run again soon.
Upon arrival, a PCR test is to be done and a 24-48 hours lockdown must be performed until the test results. The test costs around 25 euros, it will be included in the price of the flight ticket. In case of a negative result, the passenger is free to travel around anywhere in the country. In case of a positive result, a 14-day quarantine is obligatory.
