456 business meetings at the Virtual Greek-Polish Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop

The 1st Virtual Workshop of Alternative Tourism and Gastronomy in the Polish market organized by Tourism Media & Events, was completed last Thursday in the light of the conditions of Covid 19, as 456 business meetings took place, both between Greek tourism companies and destinations, as well as with Greek food and beverage export companies.

The interest for the tourist season of 2021 as evident from the participations was extremely high, while the Polish agents showed special attention to new tourist destinations, which is a legacy for a particularly positive 2022. The majority of them recorded the great potential of our country in the field of thematic tourism with a focus on walking, climbing and sports tourism. Respectively increased is the study of dozens of Polish importers to get in touch with Greek companies in the food and beverage sector that are potential ambassadors of Greek tourism through gastronomy.

On the Polish side, 72 travel agents, 12 distinguished media and 24 importers of Greek products participated. From the Greek side, 31 tourist destinations and businesses and 17 companies in the food and beverage sector participated.

The main Sponsor of the event was the Greek National Tourism Organization.

Honored Region of the event was the Region of South Aegean and Honored Gastronomic Region, the Region of Central Macedonia.

The official Carriers Sponsor of the event was Aegean Airlines, while the Sponsors were the Region of Central Greece, the Regional Development Fund of the Region of Central Macedonia, „Greek Breakfast” of the Hotel Chamber of Greece, Municipality of Karystos and Municipality of Preveza.

At the beginning of the event, a webinar was held with presentations of destinations and gastronomic products of Greece, to representatives of large and specialized local media in Poland, thus ensuring the maximum publicity of the event.

The event was honored by the presence of the Ambassador of Greece in Poland, Mr. Michael-Efstratios Daratzikis, the Minister of Tourism , Mr. Harris Theocharis and the Deputy Regional Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Region of Central Greece, Mr. Elias Bourmas.

Presentations were made by the director of the GNTO office in Warsaw, Mrs. Nikoletta Nikolopoulou, Mr. Sotiris Batos, Deputy Regional Minister of Agricultural Economy of the Region of Central Macedonia, Mr. Dimitris Paschalidis, Head of Education and Culture, Director of Tourism, Mrs. Marianna Liaskou from the Tourism and Culture Office of the Region of Central Greece, Mrs Malgorzata Bednarska, Sales Director in Poland of AEGEAN AIRLINES and Professor Nikolas Zouros, President of the Global network of Geoparks.

The event ended on Thursday 10.12.2020 with a live raffle draw where 32 gifts from destinations and businesses were given to Polish travel agents and importers, giving them the opportunity to visit Greece and seal their collaborations with Greek participants.
