Active and Cozy
The small, family-run Hotel Bella Vista is located just above the centre of Zermatt and is therefore just beyond the hustle and bustle of the popular tourist destination. Nevertheless, it is only a few minutes’ walk before guests can plunge themselves into the action of the lively town. There is no need to watch out for cars. Zermatt is completely car-free! Only a few electric vehicles or carriages can be seen on the streets.
The hotel itself offers just 21 rooms in various sizes and furnishings. From cosy single rooms to double rooms with a view of the Matterhorn to spacious suites that are also suitable for travellers with dogs, everyone will find the perfect „home away from home” here.
Those seeking relaxation can look forward to a quaint wellness area with sauna, panoramic relaxation room and Swiss pine parlour. The hotel’s location directly on the Sunnega/Rothorn skiing and hiking area invites guests to enjoy long walks in nature, long hikes or action-packed ski runs.

Relaxation or Action?
At Bella Vista, sports enthusiasts and wellness seekers alike will find what they are searching for. The spa area offers space for relaxing hours, even in private. With an exclusive spa booking, guests can expect a two-hour relaxation experience including steam bath, sauna and, of course, the popular Swiss pine parlour relaxation room. A panorama sauna with a view of the Matterhorn is also in the planning stage. A glass of prosecco and a plate of fresh fruit complete the time for two.
Active holidaymakers will also get their money’s worth at the Bella Vista. Bikes and ski equipment can not only be stored in the hotel, but can also be washed and (if necessary) repaired. A heated boot room is available for ski boots. By the way, in ideal snow conditions, the Sunnega valley run ends directly at the hotel – allowing for a smooth transition from active holiday to relaxing getaway.
Active Relaxation with Yoga Lessons and Retreats
Yoga lessons and retreats are held regularly at the Bio Hotel Bella Vista. Whether individual sessions, group classes (in small groups) or three-day retreats – both beginners and advanced yogis can look forward to varied, mindful sessions. Fabienne Anthamatten’s younger sister Stefanie, who returned to the family hotel after her yoga training in Thailand and India, now leads the offerings.
Locally Committed with an Eye for the Big Picture
The Hotel Bella Vista is currently run by Fabienne Anthamatten, now in its third generation. She is not only committed to making her own hotel more sustainable and environmentally friendly, but is also a member of the Hoteliers Association in Zermatt. This association has set itself the ambitious task of representing the interests of employees and employers and is committed, for example, to affordable housing and more childcare facilities.
The Bella Vista team consists mostly of local residents who have been part of the team for many years. Thus, the guests of the Bella Vista enjoy a genuine family feeling, which is fuelled by the friendly community atmosphere.
Sustainable – Without Compromise
For the Bella Vista team, love of the region also means doing everything they can to preserve it. „There is no Planet B,” they write on their website. Guests also find this reminder in their room in the form of a door hanger. With this, they can show housekeeping that no room cleaning is desired – this saves water, energy and cleaning agents. Bed linen and towels are only changed on request and guests are encouraged to bring slippers or flip-flops for the spa area from home.
Many products come from the hotel’s own small garden, bakery or chickens. Everything else comes from local producers, usually directly from the village. Rubbish and disposable packaging and products are avoided as far as possible. Eco-energy is a given, as are energy and water-saving measures and their regular monitoring.
«For us, the things that last have the most value. We are aware of our great responsibility towards our fellow human beings and the natural environment.»
