Visa requirement waived: Kazakhstan makes it easier for German citizens to enter the country

German citizens who plan to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan no longer need a visa to enter the country. This was pointed out by Air Astana, the national Kazakh airline. The visa waiver is valid for stays of a maximum of 30 days. In addition to German citizens, nationals of other countries also benefit from this new regulation. These include the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Turkey.

All other rules for entry into Kazakhstan remain unchanged. These also include corona-related requirements such as a negative PCR test, which must not be older than 72 hours at the time of border crossing. Air Astana recommends that all travelers familiarize themselves with the current regulations well in advance of a flight and fully comply with them.

„We are very delighted that Kazakhstan has restored visa-free travel for German citizens as well as nationals from other countries,” said Susith Hettihewa, Air Astana’s Senior Regional Manager EU Central & East, Turkey. „We have been experiencing sustained demand for flights to Kazakhstan at an extremely encouraging level for months now. Accordingly, despite the Corona crisis, we have not only kept the flight schedule to the Central Asian country from Frankfurt stable since summer 2020, but also successively expanded it and, at the same time, we invested in the quality of our inflight product.”

Currently, Air Astana flies six times per week from Frankfurt to Kazakhstan: four times to the capital of Nur-Sultan (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday), once to Atyrau (every Friday) and once to Uralsk (every Wednesday). In summer 2022, Air Astana will resume the seasonal service between Hanover and Kostanay (May 14 to September 4, 2022, every Saturday and Sunday).
