„Wir erholen Sie.” (We relax you.) – With this promise, the sustainable Bio Hotel STURM has been welcoming its guests since this year. Situated on the edge of the Rhön biosphere reserve in the middle of Germany, it is deliberately self-confident with this statement.
Recreation for all Senses
Wellness, a state of well-being and contentment, begins right outside the doors of the spa area at the STURM. The entire hotel is designed to create places and spaces for its guests to arrive and feel good. Here, wellness is more than massages and sauna sessions. Instead, the STURM takes a holistic approach that also includes a healthy diet (with organic products, of course), physical activity, mental health and environmental consciousness.
«We need to feel WELLNESS: something for the eyes, something for the ears, something for the palate, something for the body, something for the soul and something for the good conscience.»
Wellness for the Eyes
When you reach the STURM, one thing immediately catches your eye: the large wooden screens that connect the surrounding nature with the existing building from the 1970s. In close cooperation between the owner couple Christa and Matthias Schulze Dieckhoff and the architect Matthias Loebermann, the multi-story main house and its outbuildings have been transformed into a stylish hideaway that links the past with the present and the future.
Inside, the theme continues: minimalist, calm design, sustainable materials and loving details make the STURM a feast for the eyes, not only for design lovers.
Around the hotel, an extensive nature park invites guests to wander. In the middle of it all: the natural pond, which is used not only in summer, but also (by the very brave) in winter for swimming, and the snack garden, which supplies the restaurant kitchen as well as being available to guests.
Wellness for the Environment
In addition to its importance as a recreational oasis for guests, the park is also a paradise for local wildlife. In summer, it chirps, croaks, hums and buzzes with activity. Nature conservation can be experienced – and felt.
Although the effect is not immediately apparent, it is nevertheless part of the STURM’s holistic wellness philosophy: the hotel is climate-neutral thanks to the reduction of its own carbon footprint and the offsetting of unavoidable emissions in the form of genuine, sustainable projects. In particular, the Garden View Rooms, built last year, are the epitome of relaxation without a guilty conscience. Energy-efficient measures were already taken into account during construction, and the light-filled double rooms are equipped according to the latest standards. They also have their own terrace with a view of the natural pond, and ensure external and internal peace with their minimalist charm.
Wellness for the Body
Whether active relaxation during an extended hike or bike tour in the beautiful Rhön or simply switching off and enjoying a spa day in the RHÖN SPA – the STURM team does not just focus on one area when it comes to physical recreation either. The body is considered as a whole, including in the range of massages on offer with Shiatsu, holistic energetic massages, GEM for short, and therapeutic applications.
Furthermore, a visit to the sauna area, or a massage after exercising in nature is just as soothing and offers space to process what has been seen and experienced during the day.
While the focus in the RHÖN SPA is directed inward, there is room for conversation with fellow travellers at the evening meal in Otto|s and, thanks to the open kitchen concept, also with the team of chefs. They conjure up delicacies from 100 % organic food, most of which comes from the region or their own garden, in front of the guests. Vegan and vegetarian specialties are always included. Carefully and lovingly prepared, the dishes will not only make slow food lovers smile. Even at breakfast and on the daily menu, you will find only organic products that invite you to enjoy them consciously.
Wellness for the Soul
Located in the heart of Germany, yet hidden away, surrounded by a natural and cultural landscape that inspires visitors to gaze into the distance, and equipped with the space needed to reconnect with oneself. „Perfectly suited for immersion,” summarizes the STURM team.
Here, not only physical relaxation is provided, but also mental and spiritual rest and recovery. Far away from large metropolises and surrounded by the friendly atmosphere the guests can let themselves drift off and find peace.
As great theatre and art lovers, Christa and Matthias Schulze Dieckhoff created the event series „CHILL & …” for their guests. Music, readings and entertainment as well as selected art throughout the hotel provide the basis for deep conversations and round off the STURM experience.
„Wir erholen Sie.” – More than a Slogan
What do guests need for a relaxing getaway? Good food? Nature and scenery? Time and space to relax not only the body but also the soul? At the STURM guests will find all of the above. And more. After all, the whole is more than the sum of its parts and „Wir erholen Sie.” is more than an advertising slogan. It is the promise that the STURM team makes to each and every guest. A promise that guests can experience with all of their senses.
