In the first part of our newsletter, we presented some beautiful stays on the Croatian island of Korçula, in Sölden and in Siruana in northern Spain. The following Green Pearls are also looking forward to welcoming guests who are looking for special and sustainable holidays and have shared some of their favourite sightseeing tips.
The possibilities for getting active in the Alps are almost endless. This is also the case in Pfunds, where the Summit Lodges Pfunds is located. The Spiss family, operators of the sustainable, Canadian log cabin style holiday homes, hold one thing particularly close to their hearts: they want their guests to experience the natural and cultural region of the Tyrolean Oberland as closely and honestly as possible. Some of their recommendations include a rafting tour on the Inn River which flows through Pfunds or canyoning! Abseiling down vertical rock faces and jumping into crystal-clear pools surrounded by a pristine landscape: personal challenge, adventure and immersive nature experiences are the special attraction here. Things are a little quieter in the Radurschltal, the largest uninterrupted Swiss pine forest in the Eastern Alps. On a hike here, with a bit of luck, you can also see ibex, red deer and roe deer in the wild.
Marco Spiss is firmly convinced that sustainable tourism concepts can protect and preserve our ecosystem for future generations. The two log cabins of the Summit Lodges Pfunds with their modern design and stylish furnishings are therefore built in an environmentally friendly way and according to traditional natural log construction methods. The cabins are equipped with underfloor heating, a stove and a Finnish sauna for comfortable living with a cosy atmosphere.
For those searching for something more minimalist, but just as charming, look no further than the Tiny House of the Biohotel Grafenast near Pill in the Tyrolean Karwendel region. A natural luxury holiday flat on a green mountain meadow. There is room for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. Feel at home with wood stove, fireplace, bio-toilet and own „green water purification”. Self-sufficient and reduced to the most beautiful and important things – it could hardly be more sustainable! Of course, the „Tiny residents” can also use the facilities of the adjacent hotel including the sauna and restaurant.
Holiday Home Paradise by the Swimming Pond
In the low mountain landscape of the Rhön lies a unique Green Pearl – the old kitchen house of the Biohotel Sturm near Mellrichstadt. All those who love the vast nature of the Rhön and wish to relax both body and soul are drawn here. Simply to take time out and do something good for themselves. Separately of the routines in the main hotel, the Biohotel Sturm offers the possibility to stay with up to six people in the converted kitchen house. The design of the recently renovated holiday home with tiled fireplace is minimalist and beautiful, reduced to the essentials. With 220 square metres of living space, it is a wonderful place for some tranquil hours , family time and nature adventures. The swimming pond and the 3,500 square metre snack garden are right next door and, like Otto’s restaurant and the wellness area, can be enjoyed by the holiday home guests.
Thanks to its central location, Mellrichstadt is an ideal starting point for excursions into the surrounding area, the Rhön or the Thuringian Forest. The Kreuzberg monastery at 928 metres or the Wasserkuppe, the highest mountain in the Rhön, have their special charm in every season. The nature trails of the mystical high moors are exciting, leading through the world of native flora and fauna on wooden plank paths with lots of interesting information. And after an eventful day of excursions, it is wonderful to relax in front of your own fireplace in the holiday home.
In the apartments of the SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA you can hear, smell and taste the Black Forest atmosphere with all of your senses. This is also ensured by a multi-faceted colour concept, natural materials and plenty of fresh Black Forest air. The apartments for up to four people include a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, a rocking chair, telephone, flat screen with radio and SKY, WLAN internet access and a spa bag with a bathrobe and bath slippers. As cosy as the accommodation is – the Black Forest awaits with countless excursion destinations and activities. The Siebentäler Therme, the treetop path near Bad Wildbad, geocaching through the northern Black Forest or the Bad Herrenalb monastery are just a few of them.
Luxury Holiday Homes in Tropical Surroundings
Our Green Pearls® partners in the Maldives and Indonesia offer a holiday home getaway in a class of their own. However, with one subtle difference: guests do not cook themselves. Either an attentive room service team brings meals to the villa or a choice of excellent hotel restaurants await the guests instead. The cottages and their surroundings are so beautiful that it would also be a shame to spend the time here cooking.
The 45 villas of the luxury resort Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives are located in the middle of the ocean – and the ocean is also where the majority of the popular leisure activities take place. Windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling or paddle-boarding, on and in the turquoise water, everything is a treat. The eco-resort attaches particular importance to the protection of the sea and the corals and even employs its own biologist for this purpose. She is happy to take interested guests on interesting discovery tours and lets them get involved in the hotel’s own coral reforestation project.
Glamping by the Sea
The Eco Beach Tents by Billiton are located in the middle of a natural paradise on the island of Belitung, which lies off the east coast of Sumatra in the Indonesian Java Sea. The unique eco-retreat consists of high-quality beach tents designed close to nature and very close to the white sandy beach. Privacy and direct access to the beach is provided by the exclusive Ocean Suite. The interiors combine comfort and style with nature-inspired, bespoke furniture by local craftsmen. An ultimate sanctuary for relaxation. The retreat allows a very special dream to become reality – the dream of having your own island – at least for a day. With snorkelling, diving, stand-up paddling or forest bathing, the day on the private island is unforgettable. The small, uninhabited islands with coconut palms, granite rocks rising steeply into the sky and pristine, white sandy beaches lie directly off the coast. After an eventful day, the Eco Beach Tent team serves its guests local delicacies made from fresh ingredients harvested from their own garden.
