The Most Valuable Captains
In first place is England captain Harry Kane with an average total cost of £1,985.69. A shirt could set fans back on average a whopping £1,499.99. A photo, whilst still pricey costs less than half of that at £487.70. This is perhaps unsurprising as Kane who was awarded an MBE is considered one of the best strikers in the game and is known for his prolific goal scoring ability.
Coming in second is German captain Manuel Neuer who captains Bundesliga club Bayern Munich in addition to the German national team. Fans looking to purchase his memorabilia would cost approximately £1,475.81 on average. A signed shirt by this legendary goalkeeper can go for an average of £1,299.99 on memorabilia sites analysed. A photo, however, is much more affordable at an average of £175.82.
Surprisingly, fourth place goes to the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo of the Portuguese team. His signed shirts can fetch on average £631.14 and his photos £221.60. It should be noted that of all the players Ronaldo had the most listings with a total of 180, so there is no doubt that his name is in high demand.
The Least Valuable Captains
Ranking 8th is the Welsh captain Gareth Bale. Fans would have to part ways with around £401.02 on average to get their hands on a signed shirt and photo.
And although Poland captain Robert Lewandowski ranks in the penultimate spot, he has the second highest average listed price for signed photos after Harry Kane at approximately £349.99 on average.
The least valuable signed memorabilia was that of Netherlands captain Hugo Lloris. Whilst £124.99 is a significant amount of money to spend on a signed photo, it seems that fans are ready and willing to pay much more than that for other captains in the tournament.
