A BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2023 competition will be held from 19 to 22 January at the foot of the majestic peaks of the Rieserferner Group (Vedrette di Ries). Tied to this sport by a very strong tradition since the early Seventies, Anterselva Valley will once again host the biggest winter sporting event in Italy, one of international prominence.
This edition will see 300 men and women athletes of 35 different nationalities competing in the sprint trials on the first two days, in the pursuit on Saturday, 21 January, and in the final adrenaline-charged relays on Sunday.
The venue of the race, and the starting and finish points of all the runs, will be the prestigious “Südtirol Arena Alto Adige” biathlon and cross-country skiing centre, already designated as the stadium where the biathlon races of the next 2026 Winter Olympics will be held.
Sports, passion, fun, good food and a party atmosphere lie at the heart of another prominent and renowned event, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2023, the women’s giant slalom world cup.
Now at its 6th edition, it will be held on 24 January on Erta, the notorious black run on the slopes of Plan de Corones, in the San Vigilio area.
Proud to host the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2023 and the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2023, and to work on their difficult organisation, the Plan de Corones Tourist Region is ready to open 2023 with this charge of energy and enthusiasm.
Breaking news on the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup program: the Giant slalom, which won’t in the Czech Republic, will be anticipated on January 25th in the South Tyrolean town of Kronplatz.
Therefore, there will be two appointments on the challenging Erta slope.
