Transformations

After updating the photographic documentation of previous projects in Grenada and Mexico, it has been truly remarkable to witness the ongoing colonization process. Each of these installations showcases extensive coverage of both soft and hard corals, as well as sponges, hydroids, and a diverse array of marine life. It is deeply moving to observe nature’s ability to transform, mark, and ultimately reclaim our human-made structures.

However, it is genuinely disheartening to learn that this year, elevated sea temperatures in the Caribbean during the summer have led to significant large-scale coral bleaching events in multiple areas. There are limited solutions to address this issue, with the only one being an immediate and complete transition away from fossil fuels.

Exhibitions: Currents – Science Museum Oklahoma

A new exhibition has recently opened at Science Museum Oklahoma and features a variety of life size sculptures, maquettes, photographic and video reproductions. Currents: Turning the Tide on Ocean Conservation is a love letter to the ocean, honoring its importance and illustrated by the eloquence and action of a variety of artists.

Coming soon..

Multiple upcoming installations are planned for November. This includes a new series of artworks in Grenada, at the original sculpture park site. Collaborating with local artists, we’ve created a large scale installation inspired by carnival masqueraders from the annual Spicemas. To celebrate the vibrant spectacle, these new works have been adorned with natural pigments like squid ink and turmeric, bonded with calcium carbonate.

In contrast, colder climates will see a collection of new sculptures heading to the UK. These creations aim to heighten awareness, closely monitor pollution, and exert continued pressure on regional water treatment companies that persistently release untreated raw sewage into British coastlines and waterways, causing significant harm to marine ecosystems and posing risks to human health.
