It is not just a sport. It is also a simple way to have fantastic experiences in touch with nature and enjoy all of its beneficial influences on the body and spirit. Cross-country skiing is an activity that shines within the range of opportunities and sports that the Kronplatz Tourist Region offers. Skiing inside UNESCO World Heritage for humanity sites is a priceless opportunity that can offer enchanting panoramas and unforgettable sensations at all ages.

The cross-country trail San Vigilio Pederü runs through Val di Marebbe, inside the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. The 23-km-long trail starts in town and then crosses through woods and over grassy tracts covered by a thick blanket of snow, magnificent places where nature reigns supreme. In the uncontaminated peace of this scenery, silence is accompanied by only the skis sliding over the snow and the sounds produced by nature. The trail is prepared for both classic style and skating, and features rings of various lengths that allow skiers to turn at different points to go back to San Vigilio. Two ski schools offer private lessons and group courses for those who want to learn or improve their technique.

The Passo delle Erbe (Würzjoch) cross-country trail is instead located in the Puez Odle Nature Park at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, at the foot of the Pütia massif. The vista that opens up onto the Dolomites from here is a view not to be missed, whether wearing skis or embarking on relaxing winter hikes. There are many refreshment points along the trail that are perfect for a regenerating break accompanied by a tasty hot chocolate or delicious dishes of South Tyrol Alpine cuisine.

Both trails are suitable for practical and safe cross-country skiing and equipment can easily be rented. Other precious moments in search of nature can be experienced alone or in the company of family and friends by participating in other activities as well, such as the fun snowshoe treks at Monte Muro, in the San Vigilio area, an easy and safe trek that leads to a peak offering a fabulous view. Or an excursion on the 6-kilometer-long and always perfectly prepared Brunst toboggan run of medium difficulty. You start by foot from the Lipper car park at Valdaora di Sopra, going in the direction of the Brunst alpine hut. The alpine hut is not managed during the winter season, so it is necessary to take a sack lunch with you. The toboggans can be rented at Sport Sagmeister and rent and go.
