Monte Generoso welcomes autumn and celebrates the success of 'amici del generoso’ annual pass, with local flavour, breathtaking views and events for everyone

“Amici del Generoso” annual pass: A Success story that keeps growing

One year after the launch of the Friends of Generoso annual pass, the results are extremely positive. The initiative has attracted an ever-growing audience, helping to make the mountain accessible all year round at affordable prices (CHF 150 per person and CHF 175 for a family of up to five people with children aged up to 15).

To date, nearly 1,000 passes have been sold, bringing the total number of pass holders to 2,000. To celebrate this important milestone, Ferrovia Monte Generoso rewarded the 2,000th pass holder with a complimentary pass.

The origin of subscribers is also noteworthy: between 70% and 80% live in the Mendrisiotto region, confirming the initiative’s strong local roots. At the same time, participation from the Italian market continues to grow, highlighting Monte Generoso’s appeal beyond the border.

A New Opportunity for the Autumn Holidays

One of the season’s key innovations is the extension of operations through the autumn holiday period. To allow both residents and visitors to fully enjoy the extraordinary spectacle of autumn colours, the Monte Generoso Railway will operate from 26 October to 8 November according to the low-season timetable and fares.

Flavours, Traditions and Events for Every Taste

Autumn at Monte Generoso will also feature a rich programme of events dedicated to food, wine and entertainment.

Upcoming Events:

  • Momò Brunch at Buffet Bellavista (27 September and 1 November), featuring local products, freshly baked bread and croissants, alpine cheeses and selected cured meats.
  • Game Dinner (3 October), dedicated to classic autumn specialities such as venison and wild boar.
  • Murder Mystery Dinner at Fiore di pietra (10 October), served by OTAF staff, with part of the proceeds donated to support the foundation’s activities.
  • Oktoberfest (17 October) with live music, an all-you-can-eat buffet, beer and a festive alpine atmosphere.
  • At Buffet Bellavista, special events focused on local products:

  • Final opportunities to enjoy an evening at Fiore di pietra: Wine & Dine (24 October), featuring a tasting menu paired with wines from Cantina Sociale; Dinner Fiore di pietra (7 November).
  • Halloween at Fiore di pietra (31 October): during the day, a family-friendly event with a creative workshop for children and a 50% discount on the train ticket for visitors arriving in costume; in the evening, Halloween Night with live music, an all-you-can-eat buffet and a competition for the most terrifying costume.
  • Season Closing with Maxi B (6 November): the season’s final must-attend event, featuring 1990s music and plenty of fun.
  • End-of-season celebrations with an extra weekend from 5 to 8 November: 50% off the low-season fare, with entertainment for all ages.

A Highly Successful Season on the Summit and at the Campsite

The year 2026 is proving to be particularly successful for Monte Generoso. Activities on the summit and at the campsite have received an excellent response from visitors, with both Swiss and international guests appreciating an increasingly diverse and experience-oriented offering.

Although the final annual results will only be available at the end of the year, the figures recorded so far confirm the growing interest in the destination and Monte Generoso’s ability to strengthen its position within the regional tourism landscape.

See You Next Winter

Following the conclusion of the autumn season, the Monte Generoso Railway will take a short break. Operations will resume on 5 and 6 December, marking the start of the winter season, which will bring new experiences and many opportunities to enjoy the mountain in a unique and magical atmosphere.
