Imeethotel is connecting hoteliers and travel professionals to the future of the industry.

On April 24, I Meet Hotel (powered by Attached - language intelligence and sponsored by Bimble) held Destination North America. This virtual event brought together industry experts, giving hospitality professionals the latest insights, trends, and analysis from the sector. I Meet Hotel is an initiative of Bidroom, and is the first B2B, global hospitality event connecting hoteliers and travel professionals to the future of the industry.

Here, we addressed the increase of travel (especially domestic travel), and talked about using this moment to make hospitality more appealing and safer for new talent. Experts agreed that now is the time to explore different models, and that those based on subscription and loyalty can be beneficial to both businesses and customers. Co-opetition through aggregate data sharing was also presented as an option for the hospitality industry, and the importance of having the right language on external-facing platforms was brought into focus.

More on our Event

The event was hosted by Wil Slickers, of the Slick Talk Podcast. Bringing a new perspective to tourism, hospitality, and service. He runs a network of podcasts and is also an advisor for other hospitality brands. Loren Christie, Head of Business Development North America at Bidroom, opened the event. He shared some pandemic success stories from the travel and hospitality industry. Then, Claudia Scharf, Director of Customer Success at Loyalty Prime Germany GmbH, talked about how to leverage paid loyalty and hospitality, moving from the history of paid loyalty to its benefits.

„In Q2-21, subscription businesses actually expanded at a rate of 12%. When faced with a crisis, subscription companies have demonstrated resilience” explained Michael Ros.

Michael Ros, co-founder and CEO at Bidroom, talked about increasing (direct) bookings through building relationships. Distribution is changing, and subscription models are becoming more common, he said, adding that there’s more of a focus on automation., personalisation, and sustainability. When moving from a transaction to a relationship, it helps to have a subscription model like Bidroom, he explained, saying it’s important to remove friction and build awareness.. Then, Julia Mallaby, co-founder and CMO at Bimble, explained how hotels have advantages in a post-pandemic world of travel, and how they can win back some of the market share from short lets.

Tzafrif Blonder, co-founder and CEO at UpStay, talked about introducing co-opetition (working together with your business competitor in a way that benefits both of you) to hospitality revenue management. Then, Matthijs Kooijman, of language intelligence agency Attached, taked attendees through a presentation on the three do’s and don’ts on how to really connect with your customers online. The final speaker of the event was Mike Hewitt, founder of Brooklyn-based hospitality recruiter One Haus, spoke on 2021 and beyond, as well as thinking small.
