Italy just missed out on the top spot with 15% of posts being tagged in this car crazy nation.
In third place, with 13% of #supercar tags came the UK – with a sizable difference from the top spot on the list.
It may be a surprise to some that France came fourth in the table with 9% of posts – despite being the home of Bugatti.
Germans will be disappointed to see that they have come fifth in the global table representing 7% of tagged posts, despite being home to some of the biggest brands in the world including Mercedes, Audi and BMW.
The Porsche GT-3 appeared to be the most popular model amongst French Instagrammers, whereas the German’s car of choice seemed to be the Mercedes G-Class.
The 15th richest country in the world Switzerland sits in sixth place with a total of 6% being tagged mostly in its largest city, Zürich.
At number six was Spain with a total of 5% of posts and the vehicle that popped up most frequently was the Lamborghini Huracan.
Asian countries were also well represented and made up for almost 10% of #supercar posts on Instagram.
India, United Arab Emirates and Japan completed the top ten with 4%, 3% and 2% of tagged posts respectively.
A spokesperson for StressFreeCarRental.com said: “It’s hard to pinpoint exactly which country has the highest volume of supercars as there are so many nations who love their flashy vehicles.
“One thing that was clear from our analysis, and that was very much expected, is that the areas in which most of these supercars are tagged are some of the richest countries on the planet.
“Not only this but pretty much every country on the list is responsible for a majority of the world’s automotive manufacturing process.
“The US and India for example contain the highest concentration of millionaires and billionaires in the world, which is exactly the sort of clientele who can afford luxury supercars.
“There is a clear connection between a country’s individual wealth and the amount of supercars found in these countries.”
