Chantilly, the destination: a jewel of French cultural heritage to discover this summer

The Château de Chantilly is one of the finest jewels in the crown of France's cultural heritage.

It is also the work of a man with an extraordinary destiny: Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale, son of the last King of France, Louis-Philippe. This prince, who is considered to be the greatest collector of his time, made Chantilly the showcase for his countless masterpieces and precious manuscripts. He put together the second largest collection of antique paintings in France, after the Louvre Museum.

The grounds and the gardens at the Château de Chantilly cover almost 115 hectares. Originally designed by André Le Nôtre, the grounds were enriched down through the centuries with new creations as fashions changed.

A true equestrian centre thanks to the variety of disciplines practised there, Chantilly offers infrastructures that are the envy of the world: horse racing, show jumping, polo, combined driving, horse-riding…

For anyone with a sweet tooth!

Have you always wanted to learn how to whip the legendary Chantilly whipped cream?

The exhibition not to be missed during summer 2023

Gathered from national and international collections, paintings and drawings commissioned or collected by the Princes of Orléans will be brought together at Chantilly, along with their studies and variants. They will shed light on one of the greatest French painters’ perfectionist and methodical work.
