Blubrake’s ABS for e-bikes is now even more versatile

Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) have been compulsory for cars since 2004 and for motorbikes since 2016 – and now they can also make e-bikes safer.

Blubrake’s ABS improves e-bike safety by preventing front wheel lock-up in the event of sudden or hard braking.

It also manages rear wheel lift, improves bike stability and manoeuvrability, and guarantees brand-new braking experience.

E-bike users are as varied as they come, which is why Blubrake has developed four ABS modes to meet their different demands. E-bike manufacturers will be able to configure the ABS or allow the bike’s owner to choose by switching between modes using the e-bike’s display.

The more cautious and less experienced users can select the “Safety” mode when they want the ABS to fully engage. More experienced cyclists will require a softer ABS with a harder braking power and can choose between the remaining three modes: “Standard”, “Performance” and “Extreme”. The latter was developed for e-mtbs and technical off-road trails: it disengages the rear wheel’s anti-lift setting. Of course, you can also completely disengage the ABS if you want to.

Cyclists can control the ABS from their e-bike’s display, choosing the mode which best fits their experience, cycling style, and trails. They can also use the display to assess their braking performance by accessing real-time data such as initial braking speed, distance, total braking time, and number of times the ABS was activated. E-bike manufacturers can already leverage these new settings thanks to the integration with Bafang, Ananda, and Shimano.
