Acclaimed La Posta Vecchia Hotel Re-Opens Following Year-Long Refurbishment

The Pellicano Hotels Group is delighted to announce that the fabulous La Posta Vecchia Hotel will re-open its doors on May 12th, 2023, following a year-long refurbishment that has seen it revived and refreshed.

The works aimed at restoring the integrity of the building and respecting the original feel. The main interventions include the painting of the external surfaces in a chromatic palette, typical of the noble palaces of Lazio and explicitly created for La Posta Vecchia.

The highlight will be at The Cesar restaurant with the re-opening of the side porticoes instantly bringing a direct connection with the outdoors. This transformation was inspired by the Gaspare Vanvitelli painting that hangs in the hotel’s main hall, where La Posta Vecchia is depicted in the 18th century. Both side elevations (east and west) had open arched porticoes that, on one side, coincide with the restaurant and on the other, the swimming pool. Current works have restored these large windows, an exact replica of the originals, for guests to better enjoy the outstanding panoramic views sweeping across the turquoise Tyrrhenian.

As La Posta Vecchia sits on former Roman ruins, the renovations had to follow a strict set of rules of the Soprintendenza dei Beni Culturali, from architectonic, landscaping, and archaeological perspectives. The Group called in Studio Croci in the person of the architect Aymen Herzalla, a heavy weight of the conservation world who’s worked on Villa Reale di Monza, Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (Fendi headquarter) and Domus Aurea in Rome, and the Cheops Pyramid.

Commenting on the modifications, CEO & Creative Director Marie-Louise Sciò said: ‘‘Sea salt, wind and rain had damaged the façades of La Posta Vecchia and it was time to freshen it up, give it a face-lift. It’s a painstakingly thought-out restoration project that included measures set to protect the building for the next decades”.

The beautiful interiors continue to host the magnificent collection of Italian art treasures that was curated by art historian Federico Zeri for previous owner J.P. Getty. ‘’We certainly did not want to just come in and change things; we always keep the integrity and soul of our hotels.’’ continued Sciò.
