Aboard the Joy Express: Vilnius Unveils Christmas Train Service and Festive Discoveries for Polish Travelers

During the Christmas season, Vilnius transforms into a winter wonderland, drawing travelers in with an array of holiday experiences, such as an open-air skating rink and a gastro market in a former prison. In December, a special Christmas train from Warsaw and Krakow to Vilnius begins operating, decorated with motifs reminiscent of the Christmas tales.

In 2022, after nearly a decade, the reintroduction of a train route to Vilnius gained popularity among Polish travelers, bringing approximately 36,000 visitors to the city, as LTG Link statistics show.

Sustainable tradition: LTG’s Link’s Christmas trains

As winter sets in, LTG Link’s Christmas trains from Vilnius to Warsaw and Krakow are running from December 1st until December 26th.

The Christmas trains, returning for the third consecutive year as part of a new tradition, extend an invitation for travelers to enjoy the Warsaw-Vilnius journey aboard trains adorned with Christmas-themed motifs. This year, the trains have been decorated by the internationally recognized Lithuanian florist Mantas Petruškevičius, who has infused them with details reminiscent of Christmas tales, including vintage pillows, curtains, and Christmas lights.

Annual Christmas trains, highly favored by passengers, are evolving into a cherished tradition. The need for these special trips is growing every year, so this year, together with Go Vilnius, LTG Link offers a choice of even three different trains.

This surge in train travel also aligns with sustainable choices, encouraging a more environmentally friendly choice of transportation. Train routes to Vilnius from Poland not only attract regular commuters but also encourage individuals to opt for public transportation over private vehicles to embrace sustainable travel.

Passengers can conveniently identify these trains by checking an online or mobile app system, where holiday-themed wagons are marked with a special icon of a Christmas train and a tree.

More information about the holiday trains and their schedule can be found at www.LTGLink.lt.
